The first workshops in Gryfino
A delegation of Icelandic engineers from Verkis visited Gryfino for two days. The purpose of the visit was visiting green areas in the city, which will be developed with greenery and small recreational architecture as part of the project “Adaptation to climate change through the development of green and blue infrastructure in Gryfino”.
Sigurður Grétar Sigmarsson – Water Resource Engineer and Ulla Rolfsigne Pedersen – Landscape Architect are employees with over 20 years of international experience from one of Iceland’s oldest engineering company.
Verkis is a partner of the project “Adaptation to climate change through the development of green and blue infrastructure in Gryfino”, which is co-financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (also known as the Norwegian Funds) for 2014-2021.
The aim of the workshops is a deeper understanding of Gryfino’s needs, it’s urban environment and future stormwater management plans with regard to future population growth and city development.
Therefore, as part of the project, Verkis employees will consult architectural solutions for recreational areas that will be created as part of the project, as well as prepare retention solutions for areas in the city that are flooded during heavy rains.
In addition, the engineers will also train employees of the Town and Commune Office in Gryfino in the implementation of modern and natural solutions for green and blue infrastructure in the city.
During the first meeting, the engineers visited the areas to be developed as part of the project and met with the employees of the office in order to learn about Gryfino’s needs with regard to the future development of the city.
